LA came to Colorado with looking for their first win of the season. Their last win againt Colorado was on the 13th of July 2002 so it was really a challenge for the team to get their spirits up. But without Leonard Griffin and Yohance Marshall who were disabled, things were not looking great for the Galaxy.
April 25, the stage was set in Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the mountains of Colorado as the Rapids are challenged by the LA Galaxy in their own turf. Despite the home court advantage and 12, 000 fans cheering for Colorado, LA still managed to hold their ground against the Rapids and settled for a draw (LA 1 – Colorado 1). The Galaxy’s number 82, Landon Donovan and Colin Clark of Colorado rapids managed to burry one for their teams.
The game started with both teams on fire. Yet neither team managed to put in a single goal until the first half ended. As the game progressed to its 60th minute, Colin Clark of the Rapids managed to provide a goal for his team and the Galaxy has yet to have an answer. Nine minutes later, Landon Donovan rejuvenated LA. He knocked off cross from Chris Klein that led to a goal and put Galaxy in a tie with Colorado with 20 minutes more to go.
With 74 minutes in the games, Todd Dunivant of LA was issued a red card for tackling Omar Cummings of Colorado. On his protest, referee Alex Prus referred to his assistant who had a better view of what happened. With the assistant siding with Dunivant on the tackle, the red card was cancelled and Dunivant continued to play until the end of the 90 minute game. The game ended with both teams failing to follow Clark’s and Donovan’s goals. The Galaxy now stands at an all time record of 7-16-4 with Colorado.
