In the unfamiliar spot of playing from behind, U.S. coach Bob Bradley told his players at halftime they were going to have to win a little differently.Same game plan, different game plan. When it comes to playing Mexico lately, it doesn’t seem to matter.

Landon Donovan scored his 34th career goal, tying Eric Wynalda atop the career list, and Benny Feilhaber connected with a gorgeous volley to rally the United States to a 2-1 victory over Mexico on Sunday in the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean.

It’s the first time in 53 meetings dating to 1934 that the Americans fell behind Mexico, then came back to win.

I saw the other day a club chief executive moaning about the wages the club pays to the players at the club, I can’t remember who he was but it just annoyed me. There he was smoking a big cigar, driving a brand new Bentley, doing nothing for the club, bar taking a big fat pay packet of his own while not actually getting out on the pitch and making a difference for the club. Now don’t get me wrong I think he had a point. There are players at every club that just because they are being paid at all means they are receiving too much. But it’s the fact that the people that are telling us players get too much are the ones that are taking money away from the game that makes me think that maybe players are not getting paid too much.

Though having said that a lot do get riches beyond the amount their ability deserves. A few examples spring to mind immediately: Robbie Savage, Ok a good player but is he really that good, that he is able to afford to drive a Ferrari? Not in my eyes he’s not. He is far too busy play acting for my liking. Then there is Tim Sherwood, Ok he may of won a League Championship medal while at Blackburn but was he really anything other than a good player?

Again I would say no, he was just lucky to be playing in the EPL before the big star influx raised the level of ability needed to make it. but at a time when the big money had entered the game. But in my view the biggest example of an overpaid footballer is Ian Walker, surely the worst ‘keeper the EPL has seen, even when he dropped down a flight with Leicester he was no better than average.

However, when you see the likes of Gianfranco Zola, Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho and Pavel Nedved. These are players that make a match worth watching just to see them, it doesn’t matter what team they play for it’s all about them and their ability to produce magical skills that make your jaw drop in admiration.

Maybe a better answer to the question would be yes some are, but no others are not. Though of course that doesn’t make for good headlines when a player signs a new contract.

Lets be honest how many Manchester United fans begrudge Roy Keane a single penny he made from the club? But that didn’t stop the newspapers whining about the massive sums he was making, well so what? It is nothing compared to the sums that the likes of Martin Edwards made from Manchester United yet Edwards was not the one out on the pitch knowing that his career could be over tomorrow if he receives a bad challenge.

Sometimes I think its just jealousy that creates these headlines about overpaid players, or maybe its just a complete lack of anything interesting to write that leads to it? Either way I would rather they gave both sides of the story before whinging about it. I mean how about a list of the directors and shareholders of a club and how much they took in wages, bonuses and dividends? So that we can have a reference point to compare player’s wages to. I would especially like to know how much the likes of Peter Ridsdale made from Leeds.

To my mind the only way forward is to take clubs back into the hands of the fans, like Wimbledon AFC and FC United. Let’s have all their finances completely transparent, and get rid of agent’s involvement in transfers. Surely the PFA could offer that as one of their services to their union members, after all they certainly have the money. Surely all clubs need to do transfers between themselves is a solicitor, a representative and an FA, UEFA or FIFA or whoever representative to make sure it is all legal and above board.

I know this will never happen as too many people are busy creaming off money from the game to line their own pockets. But at the end of the day it should be about the fans – the players should all be on performance based contracts so they can earn massive amounts but only if the club does well and the ticket prices should be as low as possible so that as many fans as possible can afford to go.

Still this will never happen because too many people would lose out and at the end of the day football is no longer a sport it is a business and that will unfortunately never change.

Whatever be the result of the Fifa investigation to WestHam’s Tevez transfer saga, he is going to be alive in the hearts of millions of WestHam fan’s for many more years to come. Let’s hope they don’t get relegated as their story in the latter part was one of hope and struggle. Before 10 matches if somebody told me they are going to survive the League I would have gladly said “Buddy I am not a fool to buy that”. But yet again as many times i was again wrong, but this time it had a happy feeling. Tevez and Messi are the future of Argentinian football.

They both are real contrast to each other. One is an unbelievably skillful maybe a once in a generation player, but the other one is very talented, hardworking and unselfish player. When Messi was brought into 1st Team everything was on his side - the Media, Management, Fans and Players. If you remember the players all of them used to protect him like anything. The best example was the CL 1st leg in Chelsea. Whenever Messi was fouled there was kind of scuffle between players. In contrast when Tevez came to WestHam along with Mascherano, he was welcomed by a contrasting feeling - Distrust by Fans, media and players. The one which mattered the most was the players were not ready to accept him as one of them. And things predictably should have gone worse with Javier Mascherano’s loan to Liverpool.

I believed he would have been a lone figure in the dressing room. But when you have Carlos Tevez in your hand predictions have no value. Now at the end of the season the fans have declared him a “Hammer legend 4 Life”(It just took one season). How can he do that? The answer is you have to be “Carlos Tevez” for doing that. He never gave hope and with his performance he started inspiring the players to believe in him(I think one man who believed in him more than everyone was Anton Ferdinand). The key was he didn’t try to impress media or his coach but his fellow colleagues. The WestHam’s Great escape is not a one man story, it is a story of a bunch of people(Noble,Zamora, Benyayoun,…..) led and believing in their Hero and trying to do something impossible. At last they did it in style by beating the Champions at their den.

One attribute which makes Tevez differ from other strikers of his age is his “Unselfish character”. Always we have seen that young strikers tend to be more selfish than everyone. Till last season Ronaldo was one of that category, this season he reinvented himself and look at the result. This makes Tevez doubly dangerous as he is a striker who is made of a fatal combination of Latin American flair, Hardwork and unselfishness. Let’s hope he stays in WestHam for next season(i.e they are not relegated).

There is soccer players of different kind - One with flair, One with Grit, One who struggles and then there is the Tevez type.

Struggling West Ham United said Wednesday it will not appeal the record fine of nearly $11 million imposed by the Premier League’s independent commission over the signings of Argentine stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. The penalty followed a two-day hearing at the end of last month, when the commission concluded that the players were partially owned by Media Sports Investment, a company formerly run by Iranian-born businessman Kia Joorabchian. That ran contrary to Premier League rules.

However, the club controversially avoided a points deduction and subsequently has climbed above the three relegation places.

Now that the NFL Draft is finished, it’s time to start thinking about the 2007 NFL season and who will win Super Bowl XLII in Arizona . Can Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts repeat? Or will the addition of Randy Moss help Tom Brady and the New England Patriots win another NFL title? Maybe new head coach Norv Turner can take LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers all the way this season. One thing is for sure – it’s going to be an exciting season and you can be there to see it all with football tickets. But if you want Colts tickets, Patriots tickets or Chicago Bears Tickets, don’t wait until the last minute. You need to check out the 2007 NFL schedule and score your tickets soon.

This could be the year that some formerly downtrodden teams rise up thanks to an influx of exciting young talent. Tennessee Titans tickets are suddenly hotter than ever now that Vince Young has proven he’s the real deal and fans in the Music City are already thinking about the NFL playoffs. And that goes double for those with New Orleans Saints tickets as Reggie Bush and Drew Brees have teamed up to make the Superdome one of the most electric places to watch an NFL game. And don’t forget about the Carolina Panthers. They were one of the hot Super Bowl picks in 2006, and although they ended up missing the playoffs, Panthers football tickets are still hot in Charlotte and it would be no surprise to see the team win it all.

While this might be the last season for NFL legend Brett Favre, there have never been so many emerging stars at quarterback as there are right now. Get your Super bowl packages to see big-time players like Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer, Brady Quinn, JaMarcus Russell and Tony Romo. You’ve watched enough NFL games on TV, so make this the season that you get some football tickets and head out to the stadium to see a game in person.
